We would like to thank Teresa and Ian for their very kind hospitality. La Glycine was a lovely gite with all the amenities we could wish for and an amazing view of the garden and this made our two week holiday most pleasurable.
This was our first holiday with our 19 month old daughter and Teresa went out of her way to provide both indoor and outdoor toys for Ophelia to play with, which kept her and us very happy.
We managed to see Nantes and the incredible mechanical elephant, the historical towns of Châteaubriant, Rennes and Vannes and the very interesting architecture they had to offer. We also got to relax on the lake beaches of Plessé and Fégréac and visit the coastal beaches of St Marc and La Baule, plus see many other places including lots of markets.

So thank you to Teresa and Ian for making our holiday such a memorable experience and we hope to return soon.

Our first time in a Gite and didn’t we pick well! My wife and I stayed in La Glycine which had everything you needed and more besides. Set in beautiful gardens, the gites are in a quiet location yet close to the local village and easy reach of the large cities in the area.

Just as important and no less impressive was the warm welcome we received from Teresa. She also helped us with sightseeing and provided all the local knowledge we needed. I haven’t mentioned the “main man” Ian as he was off playing golf in England most of the week, but he was there with Teresa to give us a warm send off. As you can guess, I highly recommend going to pay Teresa and Ian a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Many thanks to you both for making our holiday so memorable and we hope to come and see you again.

    Kind regards,

    Roy & Pam (September 2009)

What can one say about a retreat that has been a home-away-from-home for 3 months? We have grown to love this place and have a store of memories to last the rest of our lives. We came here with the view to living amongst the French people and to this end we have to say that whilst we don’t understand the French ‘way of life’ still and still get a little frustrated with odd trading hours, we have found that many French people have good hearts.
The cottage has provided us with everything we could need. It has been a refuge when we have travelled too far, a place to recuperate. We have been able to entertain our children and grandchildren in a safe and restful haven. Each of them has needed the recuperative powers of this peacful environment to minister to their bodies and souls.
Ian and Teresa have provided every amenity we have required and the cottage has weaved its magic on us all. Wildlife abounds with cows, hedgehogs, squirrels and many birds keeping us well entertained. The garden has provided us with many hours of restful enjoyment. Our granddaughter loved picking flowers in her special basket and then putting them into a vase for our enjoyment. She loved her upstairs room with all the fairies sitting on her window sill each night; we didn’t see them but she assured us there were 10 -12 each night – why should we doubt?
We just hope that other families get as much enjoyment from ‘Coeur de Chéne as we have. We feel a bit selfish that we have been able to enjoy it for so long.

Marg and I and our friends Grant and Wendy stayed in La Glycine for a week in May 2009.We didn,t quite know what to expect as we had never stayed in a Gite on our regular trips to France. The Gites of Terese and Ian were so much more than we ever expected. It was the highlite of our eight week trip to europe. Our hosts could not do enough for us and the Gite was so well equiped. The location was ideal for us as everything we wanted to see and do was in easy reach for day trips. We will all certainly return again and wish Terese and Ian every success with the Gites.

Our second visit to Les Quatre Cles was as delightful as the first. We stayed in the newly renovated Le Camelia which was beautiful and had all the rustic charms of La Glycine that we stayed in last year.
Our two year old old just loved the gite and the garden. Teresa and Ian went out of their way to make it very special for her with lots of outdoor equipment and a box full of age relevant toys inside.
We visited the must see picturesque towns of Rochefort en Terre, Josselin and Malestroit and also enjoyed the market at Vannes. A trip to La Boule provided idyllic beaches and a variety of excellent restaurant to lunch in. From La Boule it is certainly worth while travelling up the road to Le Croisic, a small port with some lovely cobble streets.
Die vier Schlüssel, Guemene Penfao is a lovely part of France and definitely worth a visit. For us it is a beautiful place with beautiful memories.

Teresa & Ian – what can we say but ‘fantastique’. A beautiful space, a ‘home from home’. The setting is beautiful and the river and fishing have been great. We have also enjoyed having a table tennis championship every evening. The wildlife has been a joy to see, many kingfishers and snakes in the river, coypu and many varied caterpillars that kept the kids amused. We also enjoyed the ‘bat walk’ along the lane and from the barn. You really think of everything that we need which has made the holiday. Fond memories and photos to look back on and we will see you next year.

Thank you very much. We had a wonderful week with sun! We loved the table football and boxing and cycling to the boulangerie. Thank you for the loan of your bikes and the beautiful house. We strongly recommend the canoeing on the river Don. Les machines de Ille at Nantes was impressive for the children and La baule beach was long and sandy. We wish we’d had time to do some pony trecking too.

Thank you so much Teresa & Ian for helping to make this such a wonderful holiday. The very minute I first walked through the front door I knew we had come upon a most beautiful & relaxing place. Thank you for your hospitality, helpfulness & great information. We found the gite most comfortable and found no difficulty in making it our home for the week. Simon our three year old, in spite of being unwell for a few days, had a great time exploring your beautiful garden and playing with all the toys both inside and out. This is a great base for exploring the many beautiful local places, and even if we had never gone anywhere, it was just heaven to spend time around here. The cool evenings in particular were lovely for sitting outside with the vin rouge & simply listening to the birds and crickets and enjoying the delicious perfume of the honeysuckle (chevrefeuille) wafting past us.
The gite had everything we could possibly need and we knew that should we need anything else, it was only a matter of calling on either Teresa or Ian. The beds and linen were very comfortable, something which can sometimes be hard to find. I imagine no matter what time of year one might stay here – summer or winter, a wonderful time would be had.
So thanks once more to you both, we most definitely will be back. It was the first thing we both said the minute we got here. We wish you well with happiness and good health always to enjoy the place you must happily & proudly call home.

Teresa and I have been friends for more than thirty years but we hadn’t seen each other since she’d moved to France, so I thought it was about time we got together again! We had a lovely week at Coeur de Chene, which we thought was well equipped, comfortable and met all our needs as a family of four, including two teenagers, who made particular use of the television! We loved lounging in the garden, barbecuing with a glass of wine in one hand and a good book in the other, watching the birds or just soaking up the sun. We made several trips further afield to Vitre, Vannes and even just beyond Tours to visit a couple of chateaux and found pleasant, good value restaurants in most places although one has to bear in mind that lunch in France is served strictly between twelve noon and two p.m., which is a bit restricting. Never the less, we had a great time and are sure that many visitors to the cottage in future will too.

Nothing was too much trouble for Teresa & Ian, their hospitality really helped to make our holiday enjoyable. We are really thankful for all their kindness during out stay. We anticipated it was going to be a great holiday, but we didn’t realise it was going to be this brilliant! The weather was beautiful, the gite spectacular and the jams and chutneys simply magnifique! Our highlights were the medeaval festical in Dinan, the outdoor pool at Plessé, the market and shopping in Redon and your personal favourite Teresa, the elephant at Nantes! We have greatly enjoyed our fortnight, very much hope to come back again and wish you all the success in the future – you deserve it. Best wishes,

It’s the frequent possibilities of leisure activities why I recommend this region for holidays.
And it’s the kindness of the people, and their neverending will to help why I can especially recommend Teresa and Ian’s gites.

Our gite, La Glycine, we found very comfortable, fully equipped, lacking nothing and with some pleasant details like an interesting photo album of the original conversion, well done Ian & Teresa – all done in about one year, impressed…. With a southerly aspect, the patio was great and amongst many features in the garden is a challenging pentanque terrain.

Wanted for nothing in the Gite, and the garden/play area was fantastic. The play house was beautiful and with-stood our two children’s antics in it!! The beaches at Pornichet and La Boule were lovely and clean with great water sports. The kayak trip down “Le Don” was a brilliant end to our holiday.

We recently spent two enjoyable weeks in Le Camelia. The gite has been restored to a high standard and was well equipped with little touches that made it feel like a real home from home.

Ian and Teresa provided valuable information regarding places to visit and special events that can only be gained by living locally. We particularly enjoyed the medieval festival at Malestroit.

We wish that we could bottle the relaxed feeling that we quickly gained on this holiday. Die Umgebung, the gite and Ian and Teresa provide everything you could need for a perfect holiday. We will definitely recommend you to friends and family.

    Many thanks
